Every year, the line between polished and meaningful writing becomes thinner. Words are balanced, sentences can look smooth, paragraphs can look perfect, but true human writing carries life, a texture and depth that draws you in. There is always a difference if you read carefully.

After two years of observing writing closely, I’ve noticed six signs that can identify human-written text.

1. Words That Create Images

Great writing paints pictures in the reader's mind. It uses concrete details that let the reader see, hear, or feel what is happening. It doesn’t rely on vague summaries but anchors ideas in the real world.

Human writers describe textures, colours, and sensations that immediately grab the reader. They pick details that matter in the moment, like the smell of a half-melted candle, the sound of the dragging of a pencil across paper and the click of a light switch.

These images create emotional resonance and memorability. The choice of words isn’t random; it reflects what the writer noticed and felt, even if subconsciously. Humans layer details with metaphor and analogy to enhance clarity or mood. They may repeat sensory…
