I faced those dread moments at family functions after my difficult college year when I could not qualify for admission in engineering, after graduation, and when I didn’t have a job.

Someone would ask, "So, what do you do?"

The small talk felt like a waste of human connection.

But last year, something shifted when I gave a ride to a stranger who asked about my weekend routine and I decided to answer honestly instead of automatically saying "Fine."

The best and most pretty part of human connection with others is not about saying perfect things. It emerges in those raw, unfiltered moments when we dare to go deeper than normal.

Simply,

It’s about being real and sharing honest moments.

I genuinely feel that people are secretly dying for genuine conversations – they don’t know how to break through the small talk barrier.

The same people who claim to hate small talk often perpetuate it.

We like to stay in our comfort zones, asking safe questions about health, work, and weather while dreaming of something more meaningful.
